Five Favorites Friday #16

01.16.15

It’s Friday! And it’s my “Sunday”β€”Thursday and Friday are my days off this week. I’ve been trying to write and schedule some upcoming blog posts and catch up on my blog reading. My main goal for blogging this year is finding balance–I want to make Running with the Sunrise the best it can be without stressing out too much about everything I don’t have time to do.

Enough with the diatribe! It’s time to link up with Clare for Five Things Friday and Heather for Friday Faves. Here are the five things I’m really loving this week:

1. “Happy Yoga” by Steve Ross

 happy yoga book

I’m in the middle of reading this book and am really enjoying it so far. One of my big goals for 2015 is to really focus on cultivating my happiness and I’m getting lots of great insight from this book. I’m hoping to incorporate what I’m learning into a few future blog posts!

2. Dried Tart Cherries

dried tart cherries

I picked these up at Costco last weekend and have been snacking on them all week. They’ve been a great substitute when I’m craving something sweet and I’m happy to be getting all of the health benefits of cherries!

3. Color Changing Nail Polish

pretty nail polish

I got a no chip manicure last week with this fun “mood” polish, which is a dark purple with red sparkles when it’s cold and red with red sparkles when it’s warm. I get this cool ombre effect when my hands are warming up. I don’t know that I’d do the mood polish all the time, but it’s been fun to have.

4. My Yoga Studio

I really love the studio where I teach. There’s such a good, positive, loving vibe there. I stuck around after teaching on Wednesday and did some solo yoga before heading to work and really indulged in the energy that’s in that space. It was perfection.

5. My new shiny red Starbucks cup

red starbucks cup

Red is my favorite color, so when I saw this beauty on clearance clearance (with an extra discount for being a Gold member–huzzah!) I had to buy it. I’ve been toting it around with me to remind me to drink more water. So far it’s working!

Oooooh tart cherries–love them! I’ll have to look for them at Costco. I suppose the dark chocolate covered ones would be a bit much, right? Happy weekend!

Definitely keep an eye out for them–so many good health benefits and so yummy! Happy weekend to you, too!

Love all the new red stuff! That nail polish is incredible… If I had nails, I would be all about that πŸ˜€

It’s definitely fun to have! Don’t know if I’d do it all the time, though. πŸ™‚

Oooh. I love the Starbucks mug. Definitely a good excuse to drink more water.

I’ve been eating Parmesan Crisps for a few days and they’re definitely a pretty great snack. Delicious too. πŸ™‚

It is really fun! I do feel kinda like I’m back in junior high sometimes, but sometimes it’s nice to do something a little different!

Hi Beth! Stopping by to say hello and share some Friday Favorites love. First of all, I was getting a gel manicure a couple of months ago and they asked if I wanted the color-changing polish. I was going to an engagement party, and wasn’t sure about it so said no. Glad to know you like the experience. I’ll try it next time! I’m very excited it’s the weekend and will be going to wine country tomorrow with my husband. My favorite for the week? A cute new apron my Mom got me for cooking! Hope you have a good one. Yay for yoga!

Thanks for reading, Ashley! I think the key to the color changing polish is to get one that you’re okay with having either color on your fingers. I don’t think I’d get it if I had an important event to go to, either, but it’s definitely worth trying for a couple weeks while the manicure lasts!
