Happy Monday and happy Presidents’ Day to everyone in the US! For some reason I’m lucky enough to have the day off even though I work retail, so I plan to take advantage of my Monday by working on this week’s blog post, spending some time on my treadmill, and hopefully making it to a yoga class, too!
Running on the treadmill can be tough, mentally in particular. Let’s face it: running on the treadmill is really boring. I don’t know about you, but my brain gets really bored on the treadmill, which makes me want to stop. Part of the mental training on the treadmill is teaching yourself to keep pushing through the boredom. That mental push is what brings me today’s poster:

I love this quote!! I always tell it to myself when I am pushing through a tough workout. Great reminder. Happy Monday!
Thanks, Sara! Happy Monday!
You’re right on about the mind vs body. Sometimes when I feel like giving up (especially on a TM run) I force myself to finish as a way of exercising my mind, building the badass “muscles” in there, knowing that it is my mind that will get me through the finish at my next race. My plans for today include juice fasting in preparation for a colonoscopy. I’m STARVING. Sigh…
Ooh, juice fasting sounds like no fun at all. Hope you get to indulge in lots of yummy things once the test is over!
I have definitely gotten stronger mentally from running on the treadmill! Hoping it helps when it comes race day! 🙂
Me too! It’s amazing how much mental training you can get from running on a treadmill. Makes me wonder how hardcore people are who run outdoors in any weather condition–sometimes running on a treadmill is the tougher option!
