Friday Favorites #74 – Pregnancy Edition

07.01.16

Happy Friday, and Happy Independence Day Weekend to everyone in the States! I have a pretty low key weekend planned, which I’m actually happy about because I feel like I’ve been playing catch up all week. I need more time to make a dent in my to-do list! I do have a nice two hour massage scheduled for Monday which I’m SO excited about. I’ve been getting some bad pain in my left SI joint and I’m hoping my favorite massage therapist can help me with that.

With my big announcement last Wednesday, I wanted to share some of the things I’ve really been loving during the first half of my pregnancy for today’s Friday Favorites.

#1 Favorite: The Snoogle

Chloe thinks it’s her Snoogle.

My sweet hubby ordered a Snoogle (affiliate link) for me right at the end of my first trimester and I love it so much!! It’s great for helping to support my legs and hips as I’m sleeping, and it’s helped keep me from sleeping on my stomach, which I naturally want to do. As you can see, the dogs are also fans. 🙂

Lemonade. I felt nauseous pretty much the entire time from about week 6 to week 14. My doctor recommended lemonade to help tone down the nausea, and it was so helpful. Again, my hubby is so sweet and he actually started making me lemonade from scratch, which was AMAZING. I might need to make another batch this summer.

Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy. I’ve been loving this book (affiliate link) because it’s very comprehensive, and all of the recommendations are based on science and medicine. (Hooray, science.) It’s been really helpful as I figure out what’s going on during pregnancy, and helping me prepare for taking care of the baby once she’s born.

Shoes with good support. It’s amazing how much carrying extra weight affects your feet. When I’m not wearing shoes with good cushioning and arch support, my feet start to ache. It definitely gives me appreciation for my awesome running shoes and custom insoles!

Nuun. I’ve been getting a little cramping in my feet and in my ab muscles. My doctor recommended that I get more electrolytes, especially in the summer. I don’t want to drink a bunch of extra sugar if I can avoid it, so instead of going for a sports drink, I’ve been having a serving of Nuun every day. I think it’s helping!

Any big plans for the holiday weekend?

Lemonade and ice were by FAR my biggest pregnancy cravings. Who knew the lemon helped with nausea!

Right?? I was surprised at how much it really did help! I don’t know if I could have gotten through my first trimester without lemonade. 🙂

My son is going to Kings Island on Sunday, so my husband and I get a day to ourselves….that doesn’t happen often! As for what I loved during pregnancy….hmmmm….. I was sick A LOT! I ate ginger snaps for the first couple of months (ginger helps nausea!). What I could eat was pizza sauce. So I ate a lot of Healthy Choice french bread pizzas. Go figure! I’ve always loved ice cream and ate it throughout my pregnancy. In fact, it was my “last meal” before I went into labor! lol!

Ooh, I hope you had a wonderful day with your hubby! I drank a lot of ginger beer (non-alcoholic, of course) for a few weeks when I was feeling really sick. The strong ginger taste really does help!

I kind of want a snoogle for me because it looks freaking AMAZING!

It’s totally amazing! I’ll probably still use it after I give birth. I think Scott’s jealous and would love to have one. Even my dogs love it. You should definitely get one. 🙂

So nice of the hubby to make the lemonade from scratch.
