I’ve been thinking a lot about being kind and being gentle, both to myself and to others. I took a class from one of my favorite yoga teachers and during class she talked about how important it is to be kind, and that idea just really resonated with me. We can be so hard on ourselves, harder than others can be sometimes. I know I’m hard on myself when it comes to running–I never seem to be happy with how fast I am or how my running is coming along and I pressure myself a lot to be a “better” runner.
The desire to be kind reminds me of this quote:
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.

I think that kindness is often overlooked these days. I also think that being called kind is one of the best compliments someone can receive. My goal for the week is to remember to be kind to myself and everyone around me.
